Escape from The Wilders Chapter 2. The Road to Winter

Tuesday March 4

On Wednesday 5 March P4, we will be concentrating on responding to questions about Chapter 2 from the novel, 'The Road to Winter' by Mark Smith.

We will also be discussing the language techniques the author uses in this chapter.

We we will also continue with making notes about this chapter, some of you started this work on Monday, so well done for managing your time efficiently. The document to do this on, is in your English folder, in your Novel Study folder.
Remember these notes should be in  brief bullet points. Try and select 1 meaningful quote from this chapter.  The skill that you are working to develop is to go back and skim read this chapter. It is helpful to include the page number, so you can easily locate the detail  you need to answer a question without having to go through lots of pages.

Our questions for today to focus on;

1.How does the author  ( Mark Smith) create tension in Chapter 2 as Rose and Finn escape?

Look at and re-read the descriptions of the physical landscape and how a sense of stillness and movement is created.

What language techniques are used by the author?

2. How are Finn's strong observational skills made clear?

 ( what does the author use to do achieve this?)
